He for She
Campaign and advertising collateral for He For She. The campaign message invites the audience to take control of their own narrative and join He For She’s movement for gender equality.
He For She is an organization created by UN Women to advocate for gender equality. Their mission states that gender equality isn’t just a women’s issue, but a human rights issue. The campaign message is “Your story should not be determined by your ____ (Gender, Race, Heritage, Disability, etc).” It focuses on the idea that your personal story should not be limited because you were born a certain way. That the world should be inclusive and equal.
This campaign includes web banners, social media advertisements, and a microsite. The color scheme matches He For She’s current branding of black, white, and their signature magenta pink. The style is influenced by the works of Alexander Rodchenko, a history photographer and graphic designer, who is identified as a founder of the constructivist movement.
Software: Watercolor, Graphite, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
The poster (left) features spokeswoman Emma Watson and a quote from her speech at UN Women which showcases the struggles of gender inequality. Her speech was about how men can be sensitive and women can be strong, how there should no defining labels for any person. Which is what the campaign focuses on.
“If not now, when? If not me, who?” is the quote used across the entire campaign asking the audience to step up and take action, because if it isn’t them, who will it be? Action must happen in order to ignite change.

Web Banners
The web banners are animated so that every word comes in on it’s own, giving time to read the message but also as an interactive element that will catch the attention of the viewer. The pink stand united bar moves in from the bottom or side according to the format of the web banner.
The underlined word on the web banner changes to gender, heritage, disability, race, and religion before looping the entire message from the beginning.
